Be a Food Truck Vendor

Thank you for your interest in being a food truck vendor at the Visit Lauderdale Science Festival! We are recruiting and searching for the most popular food trucks the city and region has to offer. This is your chance to put your product in front of thousands of people. Participating food trucks also have the added value of awareness through the Festival. 

Please use the Food Truck Application Form to sign-up. More comprehensive materials will be provided after application. 

Application Timeline

  • Application Deadline: Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 5 p.m. ET.
  • Food Truck Notifications: All food trucks will be notified of their status by Friday, February 10, 2023, at 5 p.m. ET.
  • Acceptance, Booth Fees and Completed Paperwork: Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 5 p.m. ET. If you miss this deadline the spot will be forfeited.
  • Load-In: Per assigned time on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
  • Load-Out: Per assigned time on Saturday, March 4, 2023.


Each food truck will be required to carry a Certificate of Insurance (COI) provided by your insurance company. The COI minimum amount is $2,000,000 for Bodily Injury or Property Damage Liability Combined. The following must be named on the COI (excluding Workers’ Compensation): Museum of Discovery and Science, 401 SW 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. All insurance policies must include a “Waiver of Subrogation” endorsement. A copy of this policy must be submitted to MODS with your contract.

Food trucks will be required to adhere to the following regulations. During the event, each food truck will be monitored for compliance. 

  • Serving containers, paper napkins and cups must be compostable.
  • Cups must be recyclable or compostable.
  • Focus on finger foods so cutlery is not needed. If you do use cutlery, it must be eco-friendly.
  • Avoid condiments in packets and use squeezable or pump bottles.
  • Food trucks must use non-toxic cleansers.
  • We strongly encourage sourcing all supplies and food LOCALLY.
  • Finally, please break down cardboard boxes before depositing them into recycling receptacles on site.

In order to keep the Visit Lauderdale Science Festival brand consistent and the festival experience seamless, MODS will design and provide front signage for tents only. Food trucks may bring additional signage for the back of the booth.

  1. The Greater Fort Lauderdale Science Festival is a rain or shine event and booth fees are not refundable.
  2. Food trucks must secure a proper health permit from the Broward County Health Department. Begin this process no later than 30 days before the Festival. Food trucks are responsible for health department-approved flooring if applicable. If you fail to do so you will not be allowed to vend and will not receive a refund.
  3. Booth space may not be subleased or combined with a business other than the company doing business as (DBA) named on the application and contract. This includes other operating businesses owned under the same corporation operating under a different DBA.
  4. Food trucks are responsible for breaking down cardboard boxes and placing them in the appropriate receptacles onsite.
  5. No soliciting of festival patrons by use of bull horns, oral solicitation, customer incentives or perceived added value in exchange for business. This behavior is grounds for immediate dismissal and will not receive a refund.
  6. No motorized vehicles are permitted during event hours. We recommend using dollies, carts, etc.
  7. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all areas of the Festival. 
  8. Please comply with the venue’s trash and recycling program.
  9. Ample receptacles will be provided throughout the venues. 
  10. Polluting storm drains is prohibited. Please dispose of trash properly.
  11. Failure to comply with municipal code 43.0301 as it relates to storm drain protection may result in citation by city officials.
  12. You may provide flyers for takeaways. However, the passing of flyers and other materials should be kept to a minimum. We recommend developing a QR code that is displayed.
  13. If you are plugging in any type of appliance or device, please confirm that it complies with the Uniform Fire Code of Broward County.
  14. Decorations and performance construction must conform to any and all fire regulations. 
  15. All materials used must be flameproof.
